Federico Núñez

Federico Núñez Argentine composer and guitarist Federico Núñez holds a PhD in Arts cum laude “A Chamber Opera from the Boturini Codex: the Mexican World in a Contemporary Scenic-Musical Composition” from the National University of the Arts (Universidad Nacional de las Artes); and a Master’s degrees in Guitar and in Interpretation of 20th Century Latin American Music (UNCUYO).
Núñez is on the composition and guitar faculties at the National University of the Arts and at the Manuel de Falla Superior Conservatory of Music and D’Addario Academy. As a composer and guitarist, he has carried out residencies and has obtained national and international awards and scholarships, such as the prestigious Municipal Award of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the “Juan Carlos Paz” Composition Prize from the National Endowment for the Arts, Residence for artists in Antarctica, the Melos-Gandini Scholarship, 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition “Cesar Cortinas” (Uruguay), among others. He has traveled to music stages in Latin America, Europe, Japan and the USA. In addition, he has recorded CDs as a guitarist; at the same time, a number of ensembles and soloists have recorded Núñez’s compositions. He has also served as an organizer of different international guitar festivals in South America. Currently, he co-directs the FIGS Festival in Santiago, Chile.
Núñez’s music is published by Cayambis Music Press. He is also a D’Addario Strings Artist (USA).
