Leonardo Cárdenas
Ecuadorean composer Leonardo Cárdenas studied in the “Salvador Bustamante Celi” Conservatory of Music in Loja and with prestigious Ecuadorean and foreign instructors. He was a member, and interim director, of the Workshop of Composition and Arrangements of the Department of Musical Development and Promotion of the Municipality of Quito from 1990 to 2002. He was also director of the Metropolitan Symphonic Band of Quito from 2016 to 2017, and the Orchestra of Andean Instruments from 2018 to 2019. His catalog includes works for choir, chamber ensembles and orchestra that have been performed in North America, Latin America, and Europe. A number of his compositions have won or placed in competitions in Ecuador and several other South American countries.
