Mystery and profundity are the words that characterize Preambles. This work marks an important point in Pérez Valero’s musical production, as the composer is in search of contrasting textural elements amongst the various musical instruments, while at the same time exploring the distinct possibilities inherent in each one. Though not serialistic, this atonal work was written while the composer was in Belgium during the 2012 World Music Days, an event that was celebrated by the International Society for Contemporary Music, where Pérez Valero also met composer Veronika Krausas, to whom this piece is dedicated.
