In addition, by employing extended techniques that take the clarinet through various timbral possibilities the work seeks to suggest to the listener a kind of contact with ritual, magic and mysticism. In this way the work challenges the clarinetist’s technical as well as musical abilities. At the same time, it makes an excellent addition not only to recital programs but especially to twenty-first century festivals and competitions.
