Summary Extended Description Audio Sample   CMP 1216 Single-movement work for flute quartet. Grade 4-5. Approx. duration: seven and a half minutes. Set includes score and four parts. “Gorjeios” was composed in 2014 during a COPIU residence in Chile. Based on sound material recorded both there and in Brazil—which later was used as a source of inspiration for thematic design and for the evolution of a process I call “non literal transcription”—the musical idea is to evoke various scenes with a dynamic motion that relates to the patterns of speech. The work was premiered by the Aulos Flute Quartet (Johanna Vargas, Ange Quilaqueo, Gerardo Bluhm and Wilson Padilla) in Santiago, Chile, on December 11, 2014 during the Prismas Festival.
