Set includes a piano score and one part. “The Climb to Mount Parnassus” is a descriptive work in which Greek mythology is intertwined with memories of a visit to this location made by the composer himself. It is conceived along the lines of a theme with variations. The theme, played by the bass flute, is a melody that suggests the music of Ancient Greece and the singing of orthodox monks in that region. In general, the timbre of the bass flute, especially in its low register, is used to create the evocative atmosphere that characterizes the whole work.
