Summary Extended Description   CMP 1146 Solo for piccolo with piano accompaniment. Grade 5. Approx. duration: slightly more than three minutes. Set includes a score and one part. Composed in 2000, this sonatina for piccolo and piano is part of a cycle of “Paroxysmal Sonatinas” (a collection of works still in progress) that explore extreme mental states in a humorous way, such as hysteria, neurosis, obsession, etc. In this work the piccolo and piano seem to argue in the midst of a hysterical attack. They accuse each other, they scream, they insult each other. Then, in the middle section a tense calm reigns, as if they are trying to clarify things amongst themselves, but inevitably the original discussion reignites itself.
