Composed in 1999, this duet for bassoon and cello is divided into two sections. The first presents a lyrical, nocturnal, meditative and melancholy musical environment in which the two instruments maintain a dialog with each other. The contrasting second section is lively and energetic, almost dance-like, in which the bassoon and cello complement each other by exchanging phrases and rhythmic motives that are a combination of the thematic material from the first movement and newly created rhythms in the second..
