Set consists of one performance score and one part. “Espejos” was written for flutist Nave Graham and percussionist Manuel Ruiz. Its title, which means “mirrors” in English, refers to the mirror-like visual characteristic of the gong that the composer uses a point of departure for this composition. Only moderately difficult, the work probes the flute’s range while creating a quasi-polyphonic effect by using tremolos. At the same time, the percussionist explores various sound possibilities through the use of different implements and also by striking the instrument in specific locations.
