Iván Salazar

Iván Salazar
Born in Loja, Ecuador in 1983, Iván Salazar holds a master’s degree in Composition from the University of British Columbia and a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Composition from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes. He completed his postgraduate studies after receiving scholarships from the Ecuadorean government and the UBC School of Music.
Salazar’s music has garnered special distinction both nationally and internationally. In 2016, his work for solo piano, La Salida, received special mention in the 12th Ecuadorean Festival of Contemporary Music. He was part of the official selection in Sonic Boom Festival of Contemporary Music in Vancouver in 2019. In 2020, his composition, Danzas de Chakana, received an honorable mention in the Cayambis Institute for Latin American Studies in Music’s First International Competition.
