Set consists of a performance score. “Vertigo” is a virtuoso composition the principal characteristic of which is elaborated from the technical procedures first used by Béla Bartók. In this work the specific use of these procedures is treated freely. From the standpoint of the listener the work’s rhapsodic and playful nature is maintained in permanent tension and energy thanks to ostinato-like rhythms and dynamic contrasts. The piece is dedicated to the English hornist Ricardo Riveiro who premiered the work at the First Encounter of Venezuelan Composers that was held in 2012.
